Morrissey New York reviews
Moz-ley Disappointed
10/26/19 @ Hollywood Bowl.
Interpol - 4.5 stars. They were fantastic, with a great set. Paul and Daniel's vocals were on point and gave us a show. Their performance exceeded my expectations and for being the opener, the only drawback was being on stage for about 1hr 15/20mins.
Morrissey - 4th time proved to be a charm for me. He cancelled the previous 3 times I tried to see him. Moz, never sounded better to me. Loved his covers of Wedding Bell Blues and Back on the Chain Gang. I wonder who his "Bill" is. Nevertheless, he covered some oldies but goodies like Suedehead, How Soon Is Now, Everyday Is Like Sunday, and Irish Blood, English Heart. But he only gets 3 stars because his set was extremely short. On stage by 8:35ish and off by 10ish, which included his wardrobe change (from his sparkling emerald green lame outfit to his blue jeans and his infamous black F**k The Guardian t-shirt), and his 1 song encore. I guess we would have gotten something extra special because he said "I am so happy to be home!" But it was not the case.
Ive seen Ozzy with who is much older and gives 2-2.5 hr set.
Bottomline - would I go see him again?? Dunno...
Viva Morrissey
I was excited to return to see Morrissey and this time GA! However my biggest disappointment was the stage being so goddamn high, as I'm only 5'2. I looked forward to seeing Morrissey up close and maybe even shaking his hand but it was impossible even being in the front row. My other gripe was the staff refusing to sell my minor, 19 year old son, a bottled water. It seemed absurd allowing an all-ages show but having such a strict policy against selling water, snacks and sodas to anyone under 21. For that reason alone, I would advise anyone that's under 21 to make the trip. And if your a short shrimp like me, don't get so close to the stage. My neck hurt for 2 days straight! Other than that, Morrissey is who he is. Yes, bangers are great, but his catalogue is extensive. It's nice when he mixes it with Smiths music, his new music and stuff from in-between. Anyone that can't appreciate that about him should probably not make a trip to Vegas either.
